Lent
Lent is the 40-day period before Easter (not including Sundays). It is a season of reflection, repentance, and fasting that prepares us for Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. Christians, for centuries, have celebrated these 40 days leading up to Easter as a way of remembering the 40 days that Jesus fasted in the wilderness prior to beginning His ministry. Holy Week, the week before Easter, marks the time between Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem through his arrest, trial, crucifixion, and ultimately his resurrection and triumph over sin and death.

Ash Wednesday Worship
Wednesday, Feb. 26 – 7p
Ash Wednesday is the first day of the season of Lent. Throughout time, Christians adopted the practice of rubbing the ashes onto their foreheads in the shape of a cross. The ashes remind us of our mortality and of the remorse we should feel for our sins, which lead us to repentance during this season of Lent.
We’ll gather together for a reflective time of worship and the imposition of ashes to mark the beginning of the time of Lent.
